The 26-year-old, who shot to fame when she appeared on The X Factor in 2009, secured her spot to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 after winning the BBC show Eurovision: You Decide.

Welsh singer Lucie Jones has now started to promote her song Never Give Up On You ahead of the contest in the Ukraine.

And she’s now revealed that fellow X Factor alumni Liam Payne has thrown his support behind her, along with that of his new baby son, Bear, with girlfriend Cheryl.

The pretty brunette said: “I bumped into Liam Payne the other day when we were doing some radio stuff, he wasn’t on my year but we all kind of know each other because we’re from that world.

“We had a really great chat about it and he wished me good luck! I was really just saying congratulations to him about little Bear.

“I didn’t get the honour of seeing any baby photos, we were in the lobby of a radio station so that wasn’t going to happen. He seems so happy.”

Eurovision hopeful Lucie has vowed not to focus on any political issues surrounding the famous singing contest and just enjoy representing the United Kingdom.

Speaking to Lorraine Kelly about her song Never Give Up On You, the singer previously said: “People keep asking me questions because, I mean, this year of all years for me to be going to do Eurovision.

“I’m not really concentrating on those things!”

Lucie added: “I really love my song. I think it’s a good song.

“Everything is ready. To within an inch of everything. It’s prepared.”

The singer then admitted that she finds it “crazy” how Eurovision is one of the most watched things on television.
