Love Island’s Kem Cetinay and Amber Davies shocked fans everywhere by announcing they had split at the weekend, just four months after winning the ITV show.
And while they have since remained tight lipped about their break up, their Love Island co-star, Tyla Carr has opened up about it in a chat with OK! Online, revealing she thinks it is for the best.
She said: “I’m so sad they’ve broken up I can’t believe it! But, do you know what? At least it’s happened sooner rather than later.
“I think the first six months of a relationship is your figuring out stage, and it’s better they realised now.”
Amber’s friend went on to add that “pressure” of spending so much time together may have been behind their split.
“I think when they came out and spent so much time together they just had a lot of pressure being put on them, especially coming out of Love Island and then trying to have a normal relationship, it must be quite difficult.”
When asked if she had spoken to either of her co-stars since their unexpected split, Tyla added: “I’ve spoken to Amber, yeah. She’s alright, she’s doing as you would expect really.
“But I think it was quite mutual. I think that they’re both doing okay.”
Tyla isn’t the first Love Island star to have her say on Kem and Amber’s split.
Former contestant, Alex Bowen, also suggested that “pressures” of the outside world may be to blame for their break up.
He told The Sun: “I think their split is shocking because they won the show and everyone thought they were the best couple, but you don’t know what you’ve got to handle on the outside.
“The fact Kem got Dancing On Ice – that will be taking up a lot of his time. They get on but they don’t have time for each other.”
Amber and Kem have not spoken publicly about why they split, but in a statement to OK! Online, they said: “With sadness, we’ve decided to separate.”
“We fell in love in the villa and want to thank all the fans of the show for supporting us.
“Our schedules made it difficult. We’ll remain good friends.”
